The engine used incorporates a single stage centrifugal compressor, feeding air into a combustion chamber fed by multiple fuel injectors, and through to a single stage centrifugal turbine. The turbo jet test stand is mounted on a wheeled trolley allowing it to be moved to an operational area or stored in a convenient location. We have developed a turbo jet engine test stand to provide a cost effective method of testing the performance of an operational aero jet engine. The test stand provides a fully functioning and instrumented engine.

....The test stands are supplied complete with cooling, electrical, exhaust and fuel systems with provision for the optional factory fitted Instrumentation. Auto-trainer engine test stands are of all welded construction, made from square section steel tube, and are fully mobile being mounted on four castors, two of which are lockable. The engines are flexibly mounted to reduce vibration and guarded as necessary.

....A mounting tripod constructed from aluminium alloy is supported on three stainless steel rods secured by thumbscrews. The rods are adjustable allowing the stand to be made level.

The stand is to accommodate radiator mount with varied positioning slots and sliding brackets positioned in the front of the engine test stand. The engine mount is a heavy dun, test stand, constructed from 3" x 3" steel mechanical tubing frame, 11 gauge heavy wall type, welded at all joints. The entire test stand is positioned on specially designed vibration dampers and are attached to the main frame.

The centrifugal fan which has a low chord impeller and split volute diffuser casing is directly driven by a DC dynamometer giving a variable speed from 0-4000 rpm, with a swinging stator providing load cell torque measurement and equipped with a toothed wheel for speed measurement. The bench consists of a welded steel frame mounted on castors providing two work surfaces for experiments together with ample storage space for experimental apparatus when not in use. The working surfaces accommodate a control console and a centrifugal fan with variable speed dynamometer drive, to which can be coupled a series of inlet and outlet ducts. The control console houses all electrical components and circuitry associated with the power and speed control, while the instrument panel includes: START/STOP pushbuttons, speed control knob and torque, speed, armature voltage and current displays. The ductwork supplied with the bench is manufactured in aluminium sections assembled by deep spigoted sockets, sealed by O rings. It includes a venturi nozzle, a bell mouthed inlet, flow straighteners, pressure tapping points and disc valves and is designed to allow assembly to various configurations by means of quick release toggle latches. A dual multi-slope manometer scaled 0- 5 and 0-2.5 kPa is supplied for use with the air flow nozzle.
