In this functional model of an original electromechanical power steering the componentsare exposed within the steering housing in order to demonstrate for example the operation of the double drive pinion. The system has a controlpanel with emergency stop switch, ignition switch, indicator light and OBDinterface. The power supply is provided by a vehicle battery. Optional errorcircuit 6 switches / 12 errors and associated test sockets in 4mm design. Because of the extremely high forces onall moving parts and rotating the open areas were fitted with transparentcovers for safety. More represent able functions are active reset in thedirectional stability as well as the controlled demand for power consumptionfor reduction in fuel consumption. Steering angle, powerconsumption and torque can be tested and measured using standard workshop diagnostic systems via the OBD interface. The communication between the controlunit for steering column electronics, the diagnostic interface (gateway) andthe Diagnostic Interface (OBD) is done via CAN Bus. Thus, the required effort withand without assistance can be represented visually. In order to increase the steering forcespartially, a resistance pressure box is mounted.
