They are grouped into individual assembly sequences. The base plate is covered with a transparent cover panel on which a graphical representation of the assembly structure is printed. The kit contains all the parts required to assemble a functional bending device. The parts are clearly laid out on a base plate. The heat extracted is transferred to the hot reservoir, together with heat generated by the electrical supply to the peltier device. This heat is removed by a water-cooled heat exchanger. The flow rates can be adjusted to provide a range of operating temperatures. By varying the electric power into the system, the behaviour of the system at different operating points and temperatures can be established. The thermo-electric Peltier device is positioned in a heat transfer path, between two copper blocks, extracts heat from one block (cold reservoir) and transfers it to the other block (hot reservoir). In order to measure the heat transfer rate, the cold reservoir is fitted with an electric heater.
Instrumentation is provided to measure the temperatures of the blocks, the electric power supplied to the Peltier device, the cooling water flow rate and the cooling water temperature rise.
The Peltier device can also be used to generate a small quantity of electric power when a temperature difference is applied. This effect can also be demonstrated. The heater power is measured , and so it is possible to establish a complete energy balance for the system.
The Hydraulic Power Unit supplies hydraulic fluid to hydraulic learning systems including Basic Hydraulic System, Hydraulic Mechanic System, Electro-hydraulic Servo System, and the Combination Hydraulic Electric Servo System. This unit provides a minimum of 2.5 gpm flow at a maximum pressure to 500 PSI/ 3450 kPa.

The heat generated can be dissipated via cooling water connections, enabling continuous operation. The heat transferred can be calculated. Connections for an external heating circuit are provided on the rear of the boiler. An integrated hot water circuit with plate heat exchanger simulates the heating circuit in a house. This allows them to be expanded into a complete heating system using training panels. Different operating points can be investigated by changing the oil pressure after the preset boiler water temperature has been reached.

A two bay, 45° cantilevered truss is suspended from the inside vertical edge of the Universal Frame and Stand. Each Forces in a Truss member is joined at its end by means of pins, which make up the true pin jointed assembly. A comprehensive instruction manual for lecturer and student, giving full details on apparatus assembly and operation as well as example results. All necessary assembly and operational tools are provided. The strain and hence force exerted in each member is measured using strain gauge technology applied to each truss member. At the far end of the truss a screwjack loading mechanism with integral load cell applying the Forces in a Truss loading. The outputs from the member strain gauges and screw jack load cell are fed directly into the Interface.
