....The blast freezer and fluid bed sections are contained, along with the fan and evaporator, inside an insulated cabinet. Inside the cabinet, a fan with adjustable impeller transports air from the interior of the cabinet into the freezer ducting and through the evaporator tube bank where it transfers heat to the refrigerant. Access doors to both sections are fitted with observation windows and an electrically heated surround to prevent the doors from freezing in the closed position.
The blast freezer section contains 5 trays on to which the food samples to be frozen are placed. The air, now reduced in temperature, passes trought he tray section which can be observed through a removeable perspex panel. It then changes direction and passes vertically up through the fluid bed section, back into the cabinet space where it is again circulated by the fan.
There is a facility for a suitable anemometer to be inserted into the ducting to allow the air speed to be measured. There is a facility for thermocouple sensor leads to pass into the ducting and through the cabinet wall so that freezing temperatures and rates can be monitored externally.
The experimental unit generates cold and hot air with the aid of ordinary compressed air. A vortex cooling device does not have any moving parts, is maintenance-free and immediately ready for operation. The vortex cooling device is used for the convective cooling of high-speed tools, the air conditioning of protection suits and the cooling of switch cabinets. The central element of the experimental unit is a vortex cooling device also known as a vortex tube. In the vortex tube the tangentially incoming compressed air is moved in rapid rotation. It is particularly suited for use in explosive environments. One benefit here is that the vortex cooling device does not require an electric power supply. This creates a cold and hot air flow in the vortex tube which leaves the vortex tube at opposite ends.

The designed for mechanical engineering and motor vehicle studies. It is used to demonstrate how a liquid can be used to transmit a force. This unit is mounted on an anodized aluminium structure and painted steel panel.
These three cylinders and the pressure gauge are connected in parallel. Using the on/off taps included in the circuit any of the cylinder units can be isolated from the system. The unit consists of three cylinders and plungers whose cross-section areas are in the ratio 1, 2 and 6.
The unit can also be used to carry out experiments to study the relationships between the force on the plungers, the cross sect ion area of the plungers and the fluid pressure in the system.
A robust support pillar fixes to a suitable table or bench(not supplied) with a low natural frequency. The pillar holds a cantilever that holds a model four-cylinder engine.
A bench- mounting model four-cylinder engine that shows primary and secondary forces and moments in reciprocating masses and how to balance them. The model engine has a crankshaft, connecting rods, bushes , pistons and a cylinder block. A separate Control and Instrumentation Unit (included) controls a motor that turns the engine crankshaft.
