Blow Down Wind Tunnels

Blow Down Wind Tunnels are a special type of Open Circuit wind tunnel. For Blow Down Wind Tunnels, however, air is blown down into the wind tunnel by a fan located upstream of the test section, as the name implies. Compared to standard Open Circuit wind tunnel configuration, blow-down style tunnels provide an extra degree of testing flexibility. For most Open Circuit tunnels, fan assemblies are located downstream of the test section and air is drawn through the wind tunnel with suction. Most commonly, these tunnels are used for tests requiring liquid or particulate injection. All blow-down style tunnels have custom test sections, and many are requested to include built-in test article mounting arrangements. Because all tunnels are made to fit the customers needs, there is no limitation to the options available.

Flow In A Pipe Bend

Pressure measuring points are located in the region of the curvature on both sides: four on the left side and five on the right side. The pressure measuring points are connected to the tube manometers in via the hoses supplied. The experimental unit   when used in the aerodynamics trainer, allows the measurement of the static pressure at 29 pressure measuring points along the pipe bend. The transparent pipe bend has a constant rectangular cross-section with 10 pressure measuring points each on the top and bottom. The static pressures can be read on the tube manometers. The pressure curve during a change in the flow direction is investigated using the example of a 90 pipe bend. When laying pipes it is essential that they are adapted to the circumstances of their environment, which means the pipes will necessarily include deflections in the form of bends. Changing the direction of flow in a pipe changes the pressure conditions.

Water to Water Turbulent Flow Heat Exchanger

The heat exchanger has been divided into three equal sections in order to allow examination of the intermediate stream temperature conditions and temperature distribution through the heat exchanger. Water to Water Turbulent Flow Heat Exchanger is a highly advanced concentric tube heat exchanger with hot water flowing through the central tube while cooling water flows through the annular space. The addition of the central tube surface temperatures at inlet and exit allow detailed investigation of the surface heat transfer coefficient inside and outside the central tube. Thermocouples sense the hot and cold stream temperatures at the four stations and the inner tube wall temperatures on entry and exit.

Water Flow Measurement

Flow Visualization Wind Tunnel

The air flow is generated using a blower. To obtain a flow with low turbulence, the air passes through a settling chamber, a fine sieve and a flow straightener. Smoke is used to make the stream lines visible. Flow Visualization Wind Tunnel- Engineering Lab Training Systems - The bench top unit contains a narrow flow chamber with viewing window in which the drag model is placed. The flow patterns can be clearly seen due to the black background of the flow chamber and additional lighting. The smoke is generated by vaporizing a glycol mixture and enters the tunnel via a manifold with a large number of outlet holes. They can be interchanged and have an adjustable angle of attack. Four different models (cylinder, orifice and two wing sections) are supplied.
