The installation of a gearshift rod with abutton and a mechanical clamping lever means that all the gears can be shiftedand the function of the hydraulic controls demonstrated. The automated, sequential six-gear transmission developedfrom the classical six-gear manual transmission is controlled by the enginemanagement. With the help of a hydraulic piston, 2 gears can be shifted on eachshift level. In this way, the old gear is firstly removed and then the selector shaft turnedonto a different shift level by a pin in the arrested gate sleeve when theinlet selector shaft is displaced by the first hydraulic piston. To change to another shift level, a gate sleeve, which had beenable to rotate loosely up to then, is arrested by a second hydraulic piston. Now, shiftinginto the next gear is possible.

The Computerized Concentric Pipes Heat Exchanger Study Unit has been realized to study the operation of a heat exchanger, concentric pipes type. The water is heated by a proper electric resistance. A set of valves enables to operate either in equi-current or in counter-current conditions. Pneumatics is a flexible system composed of a vertical frame where the modules are easily inserted for the execution and/or the demonstration of the pneumatic circuits; it also allows obtaining several sequential cycles, by following standard techniques and procedures. A modular system provides teachers with the best tool for developing training courses related to both logics and pneumatics/electro Pneumatics control techniques. Through our trainers, students have the possibility of studying a collection of main components, for a better understanding of pneumatics and electro-pneumatics techniques. The standard symbols of the different components are clearly shown on the modules, to facilitate the connection of both the air pipes and the electric cables, besides explaining the function of each component. Pneumatic connections are performed by means of pipes and fast release joints; electric connections are through 2 mm. cables, since the electric devices and components (sensors, coils, relays, etc.) need a low power consumption and, therefore, the supply voltage can be low and safe (24Vdc).
