This trainer includes a clear horizontal primary separator vessel. The process has manual control valves with rotameters and is intended to demonstrate oilfield separation principles with basic visual manual operation. The three phase separator demonstration apparatus is a small scale vessel that performs continuous separation of a mixture of oil, air and water. The primary separation operation for crude oil occurs when the crude stream flows through a vessel of sufficient capacity to allow gravity separation of the gas, liquid hydrocarbon and water phases. It is available in horizontal and vertical orientations.
Function:
This fluid mixture then flows into a separator vessel fabricated of clear materials. The oil and water are recycled the air is vented to atmosphere. This process trainer blends air, water and refined oil to emulate a crude oil stream.

The Torsion Testing Machine exhibited to the test specimen is measured using strain gauge technology. The output from the strain gauges is fed directly into the Data Acquisition Interface supplied, which reads torsion directly in Nm. The input angle of twist is recorded on an integral protractor and a rotary potentiometer that connects to the Data Acquisition Interface supplied. Test specimens of up to 350mm can be loaded between the torsion head and fixing head using standard hexagon drives. 1a Plane Frame With Strain Gauges is made from fully welded hollow square section steel members making a 45° truss. The end mountings also allow the frame to be inverted for work on an inverted truss. Seven members of the truss are 1a Plane Frame With Strain Gauges With half bridge arrangements. The truss has special end mountings supplied that allow different end bearing conditions to be used, i.e. pinned and roller end.
The truss has been specially designed to be tested in the MAGNUS Test frame. The standard accessories supplied with the are required. Each 1a Plane Frame With Strain Gauges pairing has a cable loom attached and terminated with a numbered connector. The experiment calls for joint deflections to be measured during testing. Safety chains and high level reaction supports are supplied with this apparatus.
