Selection of the heat exchanger is simply done by opening a valve and changing from parallel to counter flow is by switching two flexible hoses. The Multi Heat Exchanger Transparent Casing apparatus is used for studying of three types of heat exchangers namely-concentric tube, shell and tube, and plate-under parallel or counter flow conditions. The unit consists of the three heat exchangers, and a service module. The unit requires outside water supply.

An anodised aluminium disc used as crank is mounted on ball bearings on a white plate. This disc has a pointer so that the input angle can be exactly read on the integrated angle measuring scale. The crank pin can be set at different radii on the disc. The experimental unit is used to generate and investigate pure harmonic reciprocating motion. The slider crank is attached to the crank pin on one side. The model is equipped with plastic feet and is placed on the laboratory table for the experiment. Two handles make the unit easier to carry. On the other side the pin is mounted in straight guide that is fitted with a ruler to allow the output stroke to be read off with precision.

The Set of Plate Weirs experimental set-up includes 4 different weir plates that can each be placed on a weir carrier and then fitted to the base of the channel. Tubular seals made of plastic inserted in slots on the side of the weir plates complete the experimental set-up. They are used for measuring the flow rate, whilst sharp edged aerated overflow can be investigated on the plate weir. The weir plates and weir carrier are made of PVC. The weir plates represent an aerated plate weir, a Thomson weir, a rectangular thin plate weir, and a Cipoletti weir.
