This allows students to create and study the effects of balancedor unbalanced resistive loads. Each bank of resistors includes a thermallyoperated circuit-breaker to protect the loads. Studentscan use this load bank in combination with the other similar load banks toprovide variable power and power factor loads. The other load banks areCapacitive and Inductive. The enclosure has ventilation holes and carryinghandles for portability. The Portable Resistive Load Bank is a robust steel enclosurethat contains three banks of switchable resistive loads. Each bank of resistorsis electrically separate, so they can connect as a star or delta load forthree-phase circuits. Each bank has a set of switches to bring each resistorinto circuit. Students connect the loads toexperiment circuits using safety sockets on the enclosure front panel.
....Single or three phase resistive step variable load.
Max. Voltage: 220/380 V/Y
Max. Power: 3 x 400 W
The resistive load bank can operate in single phase or in three phases. The Variable Resistive Load Unit consists of 9 individually switched load resistors arranged in three identical groups. The load in each group can be modified in seven-step increments. The Variable Resistive Load Unit trainer can be used either as a single or three phase variable resistive load bank, or to teach and experiment the Ohms law, as well the basic principles of R-L and R-L-C circuits on AC and DC voltages with 1/3 HP250 W machines. For a single-phase load, the three groups can be paralleled to allow twenty-one steps of load. All loads have 4mm color-coded safety posts on the front panel. Synoptic diagrams are silk-screened to ensure clarity and ease of use. In three phase load bank mode, the unit demonstrates the effect of balanced or unbalanced loading in three-phase wye or delta circuits. When used in conjunction with other load banks, the unit allows the student to study the effect of load versus power factor. Included in the Rotating Machines Trainer for 1/3 hp - 250 W.
