The main winding, the auxiliary winding and the centrifugal switch provide separate 4 mm terminals on the housing. Specifications and/or diagrams are silk-screened on the back of a clear-plastic front panel for ease of identification. The Split Phase Induction Motor 60 HZ trainer is designed to teach the principles of the auxiliary resistive phase motor or split phase motor. Starting current is about 4 at 6 times the nominal current. This motor works like a capacitor start motor at its normal operation speed. The auxiliary winding is made of thin wire. We recommends opening it after a few seconds. The trainer is protected by a either a diode or thermal-magnetic circuit breaker. Requires a 120V 60Hz circuit. This kind of motor is needed for low power, low inertia and low starting frequency applications. In this type of motor, there is no capacitor. The phase shift needed to start the motor origins from the windings resistive and inductive properties.
Educational Advantages:
Designed to teach the principles of the auxiliary resistive phase motor or split phase motor
Kind of motor needed for low power, low inertia and low starting frequency applications
Equipped with a centrifugal switch that disconnects the capacitor after a short time delay when starting the motor.
