The inductive load bank can operate in single phase or in three phases. It consists of 9 individually switched load inductors arranged in three identical groups. The load in each group can be modified in seven-step increments. The Variable Inductive Load Unit 60 HZ trainer can be used either as a single or three phase variable inductive load bank, or to teach and experiment the inductors, and the basic principles of R-L and R-L-C circuits on AC and DC voltages with 1/3 HP 250 W machines. For a single phase load, the three groups can be paralleled to allow twenty-one steps of load. All loads have 4mm color-coded safety posts on the front panel. Synoptic diagrams are silk-screened to ensure clarity and ease of use. Included in the Rotating Machines Trainer for 1/3 hp - 250 W. In three phase load bank mode, the unit demonstrates the effect of balanced or unbalanced loading in three phase wye or delta circuits. When used in conjunction with other load banks, the unit allows the student to study the effect of load versus power factor.
