This supplement to the universal material tester enables deep-drawing and cupping experiments to be performed to assess the material properties of thin sheet. A mirror permits the underside of the specimen to be observed and thus makes it possible to see exactly how cracking starts. The deep-drawing conditions are similar to those used in practice. A sheet specimen is clamped between the die and the holder. The specimen is then deformed using a spherical punch until it cracks. Using these device thin sheets up to thickness of 2mm can be investigated.
....The Worm and Wheel Apparatus pair has a single start and a ratio of 30:1. The Worm and Wheel Apparatus are positioned a set distance apart to mesh correctly. Both parts run in bearings with the worm operating with an additional thrust bearing. Worm and Wheel Apparatus high quality example of an industry standard worm and wheel pairing is built on a substantial wall mounted bracket for vertical mounting.

Ready-to-use Supplementary Food (RUSF) is a food supplement intended to be used as part of a nutritional program, to treat moderate acute malnutrition (MAM) for children over 6 months, for a period of 2-3 months. Ready-to-use Supplementary Food (RUSF), spread, for the management of moderate acute malnutrition, 100g per sachet, 150 sachets per carton. One sachet per day is the recommended dose of RUSF and provides approximately 535kcal. This product is not a breast-milk replacer. RUSF is intended to be eaten directly from the package with no dilution, mixing or cooking. RUSF is a fortified, stabilised lipid-based paste or spread that is individually packaged into sachets. RUSF is generally made with heat treated oil seeds, pulses or cereals together with sugar, milk powder, vegetable oils, vitamins and minerals.

A small compressor provides a means of adjusting the pressure of the test gas above and below atmospheric pressure. The compressor is mounted on the base board and controlled by a panel mounted switch.
Two sealed glass cylinders with access valves are mounted on a base board and connected via a tube. The measuring cylinder is fitted with a compound gauge designed to measure the gas pressure both above and below atmospheric pressure. One cylinder performs the measuring function and the other is used to pressurise the volume of gas contained above oil in the measuring cylinder.
A pressure switch and relief valves ensure operator safety.
The height of oil and hence the volume of gas in the measuring cylinder is measured using a graduated scale. A thermometer in the measuring cylinder allows the temperature of the gas in the measuring cylinder to be determined.
The circular disc and axle are mounted with the axle vertical between pivots, one on the base and one on a radial brace from a vertical pillar. The apparatus consists essentially of a low inertia circular disc mounted onto a vertical axle that can be rotated under the action of a falling mass. The upper surface of the circular disc is scribed with circles of 100 mm, 150 mm, 200 mm and 250 mm diameter and two holes are provided on each circle as sites to locate additional inertia discs. The low inertia circular disc, which is 300 mm diameter and 50.8 mm thick, is manufactured from plywood and is keyed to a 12 mm diameter by 305 mm long stainless steel axle. A 50 mm diameter pulley is attached to the axle.
....The Temperature Alarm Apparatus Kit
....A radiation shield may be raised or lowered over the centrally mounted thermocouples to investigate the effects of shielding.
A small scale bench top accessory designed to experimentally investigate how measured temperatures can be influenced by the effects of radiation, temperature sensor design and surface finish.
The circular duct is mounted on the discharge from a centrifugal fan. Air from the fan is blown through the duct past the temperature sensors at a controlled velocity of between 0 and 8m/s. The air velocity is measured by an in duct anemometer.
An additional temperature sensor records the temperature of the inside of the heated duct adjacent to the centrally mounted thermocouples.
Three temperature sensors of different form and surface finish are mounted centrally in a circular stainless steel duct that is surrounded locally by an electrical heater.
The Mechanical Heat Pump consists of a hermetic compressor, an insulated coiled concentric tube water cooled condenser, a liquid receiver, a thermostatically controlled expansion valve and air heated evaporator.
Mechanical Heat Pump components are clearly but compactly arranged in a manner similar to that used for many domestic air-water heat pumps and all are visible from the front of the unit.
The components of the heat pump and its instrumentation are mounted on a high quality ABS plastic panel.
Mechanical Heat Pump is given up to the cooling water and the refrigerant condenses to a liquid before passing to the liquid receiver and then the expansion valve. Slightly superheated Refrigerant vapour enters the compressor from the evaporator and its pressure is increased. This brings about a rise in temperature and the hot vapour enters the water cooled condenser.

The vibrating mass, constrained by an externally pressurised air bearing system, has an undamped natural frequency of about 1Hz and maximum amplitude of about 20 mm so that the motion of the mass can be readily observed and recorded directly on the pen recorder (Teledeltos paper) system incorporated in the apparatus. The apparatus enables a number of experiments to be carried out on the free and forced vibration of a single degree-of-freedom system with viscous damping. Both steady state and transient conditions can be investigated. The uncontrolled damping of the vibrating mass is very small (equivalent to a damping ratio of 0.003) and the viscous damping generated by the eddy current system is continuously variable up to a damping ratio of about 1.5.
Experimental Capabilities:
The effect of viscous damping on free vibration and the determination of the damping ratio
Experimental on the variation of undamped natural frequency with vibrating mass
The response of the vibrating mass to forcing, illustrating the decay of the transient vibration and the establishment of the steady state vibration
Forced vibrations excited by rotating out-of-balance forces
Forced vibrations excited by oscillating the support.
