Load is applied to the truss by a screw jack mechanism with integral load cell. An extra diagonal member with its length adjustable by a simple mechanism is provided to make the first bay of the Redundant Truss. Each Redundant Truss member incorporates a strain gauge bridge arrangement for direct measurement of strain. The 45° two bay truss consists of seven members with pinned joints cantilevered from the vertical member of the Universal Frame and Stand using an upper springing and supported by a roller bearing on a vertical track at the lower springing.

Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (Bubble CPAP) system for the non-invasive respiratory support of normal, premature or low-birth weight neonate with spontaneous breathing. The unit has an integrated pulseoximeter to measure the level of arterial oxygen saturation in blood.

The motor compressor is suspended by springs in the capsular housing which minimises the transmission of vibration to the capsule body, thereby reducing noise emission. Unlike open compressors, the refrigerant compressor is directly connected to the drive motor and therefore does not require any floating seal.

The Brinell, Vickers and Rockwell Hardness Testing Unit consists of a hardness testing machine that determines the three main types of hardness (Brinell, Vickers and Rockwell) in metals, hard alloys, quenched steels, etc. The Rockwell method generates a small size imprint during the test. It employs small quenched steel balls of different diameter or cones made of diamond for the indentation.
A penetrating ball of specific diameter is used in the Brinell hardness test to press the surface of the test piece with a specific force. The unit employs balls of 2.5 mm. and 5 mm.
Besides it can also be used to measure the hardness of other materials, such as rigid plastics, bakelite, etc.
The Vickers method allows to measure the hardness of practically all metallic materials, regardless their state and thickness. It employs a square base pyramid-shaped indenter. Such indenter is applied perpendicularly to the surface whose hardness is going to be measured.
The most common method used to calculate the hardness of a metal is measuring the indentation strength with the aid of a tool of specific geometry. It consists on measuring the imprint generated when exerting a preset load on the test piece for a certain time.

These differ in their characteristics decisively from flow equipment which include the turbo compressors that are common in very large systems. In Piston Compressors the flow rate is mainly dependent on the displaced volume and speed. Smaller refrigeration systems usually have a Piston Compressor. Because the flow rate is a measure for the refrigeration capacity of the refrigeration system, the properties of the compressor are important for the capacity of the whole system. Piston compressors are positive displacement machines. Due to the unavoidable dead space the flow rate drops with increasing pressure ratio.

A two bay, 45° cantilevered truss is suspended from the inside vertical edge of the Universal Frame and Stand. Each Forces in a Truss member is joined at its end by means of pins, which make up the true pin jointed assembly. A comprehensive instruction manual for lecturer and student, giving full details on apparatus assembly and operation as well as example results. All necessary assembly and operational tools are provided. The strain and hence force exerted in each member is measured using strain gauge technology applied to each truss member. At the far end of the truss a screwjack loading mechanism with integral load cell applying the Forces in a Truss loading. The outputs from the member strain gauges and screw jack load cell are fed directly into the Interface.
