The Gas Purification plant is complete with a control cabinet, integrated into the structure, with all the switches that are necessary for the activation of the different electrical components of the plant, a main switch off and emergency stop mushroom button. Inside the cabinet there are also the necessary protections against potential electrical faults, short circuits or drift to earth, according to the electrical regulations governing the protection of people and equipment. All elements of the Gas Purification plant are placed on a frame made of square pipes 40x40x2 mm of stainless steel. The four branches of the Gas Purification plant are in the same horizontal plane.
The Gas Purification plant allows testing the removal of solid particles from a gas stream, through different methods:

The contaminant, solid, is stored in a hopper, from where it is dosed to the process by means of an archimedes screw which is directly actuated by a gear motor.

A stream of air is passed across the top of the capillary tube, with a stationary layer of air above the liquid surface, creating a partial pressure difference between the liquid surface and the flowing air stream. Measurement of how this phase boundary changes with time enables the molar mass transfer rate to be determined. As vapour diffuses from the liquid into the air stream, the amount of liquid in the tube reduces and the phase boundary between the liquid and the air drops.
A small quantity of the volatile liquid to be investigated is placed in a capillary tube, which is positioned in a heated metal block. The block is heated by an electric cartridge heater and kept at a constant temperature using an electronic control loop.

The equipment uses normal clean dry air, as it behaves as an ideal gas over the range of pressures used in this equipment. A thermocouple measures the temperature of the heater surface for the controller. Two thermocouples measure the temperature of the air in the vessel. A pressure transducer measures the pressure of the heated air in the vessel. A hand-operated valve at the bottom of the vessel allows students to normalize the air in the vessel to ambient conditions. A digital display shows the absolute pressure, both temperatures and their average value. The bench-mounting equipment includes a back plate that holds a low-pressure vessel. The vessel holds a fixed volume of air surrounded by an insulated heater, controlled by an electronic temperature controller. They then record the changes in pressure as the temperature increases and plot the results to prove Gay-Lussacs Law. Students set the controller for the range of temperatures needed during the experiment.
