Schematic diagrams and specifications are silk-screened onto the back of the front panel of each unit. The AC Voltmeters 60 HZ trainer includes three analog voltmeters for reading AC voltages. Interconnections between components and connections are made through standard color coded safety sockets with banana plug jumper leads. Each voltmeter has two reading scales adapted to measure the voltage in experiments with rotary machines, electrical circuits, or motor controllers. The Acoustic Impedence Tube consists of a transparent plastic tube fitted at one end with a glass reinforced plastic enclosure containing two loudspeakers and at the other with a heavy sample holder. The portion absorbed being converted into heat by the viscous action of the airborne wave as Acoustic Impedence Tube passes through the absorber. Dependent upon the type of material and the tone frequency, a portion of the sound energy is absorbed and the remainder is reflected back along the tube.

Activated Sludge Process enables this process to be demonstrated. A pump delivers raw water contaminated with dissolved organic substances (organic matter) into the aeration tank. Since aerobic microorganisms need oxygen, the raw water is aerated in the aeration tank. The activated sludge is mixed with the raw water by stirring machines. In the secondary clarifier the activated sludge is then separated from the treated water by sedimentation. The activated sludge process is the most important biological process in water treatment. Aerobic microorganisms (activated sludge) in the aeration tank use the organic matter as a source of nutrition, biodegrading it in the process. A portion of the activated sludge is returned to the aeration tank (return sludge). The treated water is collected in a tank. Oxygen concentration, pH-value and temperature can be controlled. The following flow rates are adjustable: raw water, return sludge, internal recirculation for pre-denitrification and air.

The micro-organisms utilize the contaminated substances as necessary food for their production and their preservation. The aspect for this mass of micro-organisms is that of sludge, from which we have taken the name of the process. The activated sludge pilot allows the study and the comprehension of sewage treatment by activated sludge. This Activated Sludge Sewage Treatment Pilot Plant is an intermediate stage between the physical treatments or grid iron, and primary sedimentation and the final sterilization and chlorination stage, in a sewage treatment station. The conditioning process takes place in a tank where the organic load is removed by microorganism which are cultivated under aerobic conditions by blowing in air or sometimes also pure oxygen. After the pollutant elimination phase it is necessary to divide the clarified water from the sludge, operation which is carried out in the settling tank (stating separator). Its purpose is to eliminate the contaminated organic substances which are present in the sewage water after the above mentioned physical treatment. The organic load is measured in BOD (Biological Oxygen Demand) unit and it also causes a partial elimination of COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand).
