....The Finned Tube Bundle In Cross Flow accessory includes a clear plastic plate that is designed to fit the aperture in the Cross Flow Heat Exchanger duct. An electrically heated finned active element with an integral surface thermocouple is supplied which may be inserted in place of the removable tube in the centre of each row. The plate consists of a four row finned tube bank with a removable finned tube in the centre of each row. Replacing the removable tube in each row in turn in the tube bundle allows the variation in heat transfer coefficient in a tube bundle to be investigated.
Experimental Capabilities:
Steady state determination of the mean surface heat transfer coefficient for finned tubes in the 1st , 2nd 3rd and 4th rows of a Finned Cross Flow Heat Exchanger.
Investigation of the effect of external fins on the heat transfer watt density of plain tubes in cross flow.
Fire Alarm Teaching Equipment Didactic Equipment Building
....Fire Alarm Trainer activates the detector and sets off the alarm system. The case has an internal divider and separate heater lamps designed to raise the temperature within the enclosure above the detector limits. A two zone Fire Alarm Trainer control panel to Fire Alarm Trainer is mounted on the front of a glass reinforced plastic panel. One detector zone consists of a temperature detector and rate of rise temperature detector mounted in a fire retardant glass reinforced plastic case.
Apertures at the base of the box allow combustion products from a match or lighter or visible smoke from the generator supplied to be injected into the enclosure housing the two types of detector. The second detector circuit consists of a manual call point followed by an optical smoke detector and ionised particle detector mounted in a similar box to the heat detectors.

....The water flows through a pipe with a valve and flow meter before passing through the measured sections. The section under test is connected with a hose. It is possible to measure the pressure loss and to investigate the effects of material, surface roughness and flow rate. Four measured sections are fitted to the panel, each comprising ten elbows and bends in different layouts. The overall length of each section is the same.
....The transmissions in the individual gear steps are not implemented with planetary gear trains, but with spur gears. In the cutaway torque converter, one sees the pump and turbine wheel, the free wheel and the converter lockup clutch. A very extensive description of the function is supplied. The shifting processes are initiated electronically, with the gears being shifted by hydraulic clutches via theelectro-hydraulic control unit.

The air flow rate is measured using pressure sensors at discharge orifices at the top of the columns. The two air columns are fed by variable pressure regulators, which can be used to adjust the air flow rate through the column. The integral micro controller calculates the flow rates from the pressure readings and displays these on the front panel.
The apparatus comprises three clear acrylic columns mounted above a moulded ABS base. This column features an overflow pipe, which returns the water back into the sump. The base contains a water reservoir with a variable speed submersible pump, which pumps water through an electronic flow meter into the base of the left hand column.
Pressure drops on all three columns are measured by differential pressure sensors connected to tapping points at the top and bottom of the columns. The software also provides powerful graph plotting facilities. All process measurements are displayed simultaneously on the front panel display and are available on the USB output for data logging.
The student guide describes how to use the equipment and gives experiment procedures. For extra virtual experiments, can supply the optional Structures Software for use on a suitable computer. The experiment hardware fits onto a Structures Test Frame. To load the arch, students fit masses on weight hangers to set positions along the arch span. This measures the fixed moment reaction. At the other end, a load cell measures the horizontal thrust. The equipment includes leads to connect the load cells to a Digital Force Display. Both ends of the arch are fixed. At one end of the arch, a moment arm rests on a load cell. They also extend the choice of tests than that available using only the hardware, for example: higher loads, uniform loads or different test specimens. This extends the students learning experience. The lecturer guide provides details of the equipment including sample experiments results. For automatic data acquisition of your experiment results, can supply the optional Automatic Data. The virtual experiments simulate the tests that you do with the hardware. Refer to the Structures Software datasheet for full details.
