It consists of a spur gear stage as its input, with a downstream worm gear stage (multistage gear combination). The fit seatings of the gear unit are designed to allow the complete assembly process to be carried out by hand. This, in conjunction with students working in an independent capacity, as well as developing team working skills, ensures that the unit serves as an excellent learning tool. The circuits are arranged within the evaporators to allow for hot gas defrosting.
