Gear drives are uniform translation gears. The rotary motion is transferred from one shaft to a second through positive transmission by gears.
The gear is the element of a machine that transmits and transforms motion. A gear comprises at least one drive, an output and a frame.
The drive and the output shaft are arranged in parallel. Planetary gears are a type of spur gears, in which the drive and the output shafts are on the same axle. In spur gears, the gears are mounted on parallel axles.

The heat exchanger has been divided into three equal sections in order to allow examination of the intermediate stream temperature conditions and temperature distribution through the heat exchanger. Water to Water Turbulent Flow Heat Exchanger is a highly advanced concentric tube heat exchanger with hot water flowing through the central tube while cooling water flows through the annular space. The addition of the central tube surface temperatures at inlet and exit allow detailed investigation of the surface heat transfer coefficient inside and outside the central tube. Thermocouples sense the hot and cold stream temperatures at the four stations and the inner tube wall temperatures on entry and exit.

The engine used here is an air-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke petrol engine with external carburation. A modified cylinder head permits experiments with various combustion chamber inserts. To adjust the mixture composition, the carburettor was modified. In conjunction with the test stand and the load unit, the engine is highly suitable for investigation of different compression ratios, ignition timing adjustment and an adjustable jet nozzle. The engine includes a sensor to measure the exhaust gas temperature. The sensor, ignition cut-off and fuel supply are connected to the test stand. It is fitted with a special device to adjust the ignition timing from advanced to retarded.

This pilot plant is designed to produce butter by using the cream output by pilot plant. It must be fed with the cream separated from at least 200 litres of milk.

The extensive use of sensors and actuators comes from the need of the electronic control panels to know in real time the actual values of the physical parameters to be controlled or which influence the behaviour of the car.

The kit is used primarily for viewing and information purposes. No provision is made for conducting exercises or experiments. The largest tool diameter is 16,75mm. The kit is clearly laid out on a plastic tray. The well-structured instructional material enhances the informational value of the collection. It also includes interchangeable guiding pins and a machining specimen with initial countersinking. It includes 12 different countersinks including special types, e.g. a backward countersink tool.

A bench top unit comprising a vacuum formed ABS plastic plinth with integral electrical console on to which is mounted the packed bed reactor columns, feed pump, optical sensor and optional Flow Injection Analysis system.
A heated water supply to the column jackets allows automatic control of reaction temperature to a set point value.
Feed flow rate can be varied between 0 and 15 ml/min.
The unit is supplied as standard with two reactor columns for chemical catalysis.
A third column can be optionally added to the system for biological enzymic catalysis.
The console has two digital meters. The first, associated with the controller, shows the temperature of water supplied to the column jackets, and the second shows the optical sensor reading which provides a measure of product concentration. Corresponding signals are routed to the I/O port for connection to a PC.
The optional FIA pump can be adjusted to give flow rates up to 2.5 ml/min.
All electrical circuits are fitted with appropriate protection devices.
