....The test force is displayed using a large dial gauge indicator. The elongation of the test specimen is recorded on a dial gauge. Students can develop skills in the carrying out of complex project work. The fully assembled system presents an actual fully functional materials tester which can be used for a wide range of materials testing. The test force is generated using a hand-operated hydraulic system. The skills acquired are the planning, execution and checking of assembly, commissioning, and maintenance operations. Is supplied in kit form. In the course of the project they independently develop an appreciation for the fundamentals and correlations involved, and then contribute to the overall outcome using team working skills. The kit contains all the mechanical components, measuring devices, hydraulic components complete with sealing elements, and piping material complete with all connecting elements.

The Pressure Homogeniser has been designed to complement the other processing equipment in the miniature-scale R & D range. The unit can also be used for salad creams and sauces. The double action of the homogeniser valve causes the mixture under pressure to be subjected to shear and compressive forces between the valve faces and impinge violently against the walls of the chamber, ensuring thorough dispersion. This index refers to testing homogenised product for fat content at the top and bottom of a sample and comparing the difference. Normal standards require an index of less than 12%. It is particularly useful for disintegrating fat globules in milk, ice cream and UHT dairy products. Results of performance using whole milk gave homogenisation indexes of 5%.

The exchanger and its operating mode is by means of manual valves. The system has an electric heater with a thermostat for the production of hot water. All the exchangers are mounted in parallel and can be used separately, operating in equicurrent or counter-current conditions, except from S1 and S4. Cold water is taken from the water mains. The unit is supplied with manuals that describe each component of the system, installation and utilization procedures and many exercises with the relative results. The bench is trolley mounted and is equipped with a front panel, featuring a silk-screen printed synoptic panel.

The trainer enables the measurement of air humidity with four different instruments which can be directly compared to each other: two different hygrometers, a capacitive hygrometer and a psychrometer. There are different measuring methods to determine humidity. Psychrometers operate based on the principle of evaporation cooling and compare the ambient temperature with the wet bulb temperature to determine the humidity. The measurement of the air humidity plays an important role in many branches of industry, e.g. during drying or in the air conditioning of buildings and vehicles. Hygrometers utilise the property of specific fibres, e.g. hair, to expand with increasing air humidity. The core element of the trainer is a climatic chamber with transparent door. In the capacitive sensor the dielectricity constant of a layer and with it its capacity changes due to the water molecules absorbed. This chamber can be humidified and dehumidified and contains the four instruments.
