The photovoltaic DC current from is fed to the input of via a connectioncable. Inside the DC current passes safety devices and enters theinverter. The inverter transforms the DC into AC current. The unit contains thesecomponents and is conceptualized as an extension for the trainer. The inverter alsooptimizes voltage and current to ensure that the photovoltaivc modules producemaximum possible power. Feeding electricity from photovoltaic solar modules into the mains grid requires severalspecial system components. These components enable conversion and capture ofthe solar electricity and ensure system safety. The tie rods support a two section roadway that is equipped with a central hinge to demonstrate the bending moment. The roadway can be loaded using various weights. Two mechanical dynamometers measure the bearing forces. The set is intended for use with the universal test frame and demonstrates the behaviour of a suspension bridge as often to be seen in reality. Tie rods are hung from a double supporting cord, the length of the rods varies such that the cord is hung in a parabola shape. In this way the force distribution between the cords and roadway is determined for varying load cases. The forces in the supporting cords are measured using a further set of weights.

The simulator consists of a panel operating by PC with mimic diagram for the clear positioning of the components. The various zones of the mimic diagram are presented with different colours and shades to emphasize the peculiar characteristics of the system. This simulator is an educational system designed in vertical frame, bench-top, so the students have the capability to watch the theoretical and practical study of the automotive systems. The mimic diagram is fitted with light indicators so as to enable the observation of the control. It includes colour mimic diagram that clearly shows the structure of the system and allows the location of components on it.
The operational conditions are entered by the students. The display of the information available at the PC monitor allows the continuous monitoring of the educational system. The insertion of faults is carried out by the PC.
The subsystems that form the hybrid solution and that are analyzed by means of the simulator and shown on the synoptical panel are the following: Gasoline Unit, including:

The Hybrid Vehicle Demonstrator includes a Hybrid engine, a battery and an Electronic Control Unit, several meters showing power flow between the units, a brake switch and a potentiometer mimicking the accelerator pedal. The system can also be used to show the effects of regenerative braking. Two models are available: a bench top version and a panel mounted version. The controls the system to show students how the power is routed in a hybrid depending on the State of Charge of the Battery, and to allow them to make measurements on the engine performance under different load conditions.
