A bench mounted vapour compression Refrigeration Cycle Demonstration Unit using a hermetic compressor and water cooled flooded glass condenser and evaporator. Internal electrical and mechanical safety devices allow for unsupervised operation by students. Standard instrumentation fitted enables measurement of the condenser and evaporator pressures and temperatures as well as water flow rates and water temperatures. A float controlled expansion device controls the flow of refrigerant in the system. Refrigeration Cycle Demonstration Unit operates on low-pressure non-toxic ozone friendly refrigerant.

In this course students will study some circuits for analogue to pulse conversion, sound indicator and analogue frequency meter. This board does not substitute the medical device under study. The events monitoring systems such as the frequency of the cardiac pulsations, the breathing frequency, etc., require that an analogue signal be converted to pulses and visualized on a display in order to be measured. They are just for demonstration purposes. The results of the experiments have no medical value.

The unit is mounted on a structure of anodized aluminum profiles with painted steel plates , which has adjustable legs installed.
The unit basically consists of:Two porticoes:
A 50 cm. height portico, where the experimental strut will be subjected to load by means of a spring balance situated at the upper part and which will tend to elevate the lower beams, so the experimental strut will be subjected to compression.
A 1 m. height portico, where the test struts are placed. It is designed to accommodate struts of different height by using two pins. Therefore, at the upper and lower parts, there are special clamps to subject the strut to the desired ends conditions.
Balance 0-50 kg to measure the strut compression load, with 200 g accuracy.

Dial gauge, measurement range: 0-20 mm, precision: 0.01 mm, to check the strut flexion according to the experimental strut is subjected to load.

The Suspended Centre Span Bridge is supported on the two inner piers and is anchored to the two outer piers to provide a pair of cantilevers on which the suspended centre span is carried. The Suspended Centre Span Bridge model three span bridge has a flat deck and solid spandrels to the three spans. The Suspended Centre Span Bridge is loaded using either point loads (25 or 10N) or through a tandem rolling load of 25 + 10N value. The four piers and the centre span supports incorporate reaction measuring load cells that connect directly to the Interface to give readings in Newtons. The tandem load can be arranged such that the 10N load is leading or trailing. The tandem loads are linked thus simulating a vehicle passing over the bridge deck. By separating the tandem loads it is possible to obtain the influence lines for the bridge.

The apparatus consists of a turntable carrying two pairs of masses mounted on radius rods and linkage so that the centripetal force is measured using direct weighing by masses placed on the central carrier. Centripetal Force Apparatus permits accurate determinations of the relationship between force, mass radius and angular velocity of a rotating body. A similar pair of radius rods beneath the turntable compensate for any force due to the rods themselves. The masses, which may be separated to show the effect of equivalent mass, may be fixed at any radius from 75 mm to 250 mm along the graduated radius rods. One or more of the masses may be removed. For experimental work the mass, radius and angular velocity may be varied.

Double Circuit Brakes Cutway model is carefully sectioned for training purposes, professionally painted with different colours to better differentiate the various parts. A braking adjuster is placed between the pump and the (rear) drum brake in the circuit in order to avoid the rear wheels locking during the braking phase. As in real conditions, Double Circuit Brakes Cutway is operated by a hydraulic pump connected to the disc brake and a drum brake. Many parts have been chromium-plated and galvanized for a longer life.

An instrumentation and water circulating console is attached to the panel under test via flexible hoses and this displays all of the relevant measured parameters.
Flat Plate Solar Collector unit is designed for internal or external operation. A Flat Plate Solar Collector similar to those used for heating swimming pools or domestic hot water is mounted on an adjustable frame. For internal operation an artificial solar source is available on application as an optional extra.
