Continuous Beam is to be used with Universal Structural Frame. The settlement of each load measuring support is measured by a dial gauge and can be simulated by height compensation mechanism. The Continuous Beam equipment consists of a two span continuous beam supported by two vertical force supports and a built-in/knife edge support. The Continuous Beam equipment is used for measurement of the reactions of a two span continuous beam with and without settlement of a support. Each beam deflection is measured by a dial indicator. Three movable load hangers with a set of weights for downward as well as upward loading are provided.

The Gear Efficiency Apparatus has a gearbox which incorporates both spur and worm gears for which the setups can be easily switched between. The input and output power of the Gear Efficiency Apparatus is calculated for determining the Gear Efficiency of two different gear configurations. Sensors for speed and force are located on the motor module (input) and the brake module (output). The motor speed input can be controlled as well as a breaking force or load applied to the output shaft via a braking module.
By comparing the actual input and output readings to that of the calculated output values we can affectively work out the losses in the system and the efficiency of the respective gear configurations. By taking the input and output force (N) readings we can then calculate the torque (Nm) in the shafts as well as go on to calculate the power (Nm/s).

An orifice can be screwed into either of the threaded holes and the unused aperture sealed with the blanking plug provided. A scale is mounted on the side of the tank to enable the height of the water above either orifice position to be determined. This arrangement avoids excessive turbulence and enables a steady level surface to be maintained. Two threaded holes are cut into the tank in which to mount the orifice being studied, one in the tank base for 'vertical' discharge, and the other in the tank side for 'horizontal' discharge. The zero of the scale coincides with the centre of the side outlet position. The Orifice sets are used in conjunction with the Inlet Head Tank for the investigation of the flow of water through a horizontal or a vertical orifice. Water is supplied to the tank via a hose connection to the base inlet, and is then distributed within the tank by a vertical perforated sparge pipe. When an orifice is fitted in the horizontal discharge position a Trajectory Profile Hook Gauge can be used to determine the jet profile. Details of both sets of orifices are given as follows.

The imbalance of a rotating machine part may cause harmful vibrations in the entire machine. A familiar example is unbalanced tyres on a car. In rotating machines such as turbines or pumps, vibrations due to imbalance lead to comfort problems or even damage related to overloading. If this balancing is done not on a particular machine but directly on the machine in operation located on-site, it is known as field balancing. These cause annoying and unpleasant vibrations in the steering. This is why almost all rotating parts are balanced.

Polariscope Frame has integral slides into which fit quarter wave plates and polarisation filters. These plates and filters can be rotated through 90° to vary the colourisation seen by the user.
